Background

Founded in 1982, today the American School has over 1,000 students on a sprawling campus in Bryanston which caters for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. A second campus in Pretoria caters for Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8. The school's facilities include science laboratories, computer laboratories, libraries, a gym, a swimming pool, sport-specific fields and courts, a fine arts centre and a cafeteria. There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer.

Curriculum

In elementary, middle and high school, students follow a hybrid curriculum based on American and international best practices. Grade 11 and 12 students study toward either the American High School Diploma or the International Baccalaureate Diploma, which is internationally recognised.

Location

The Johannesburg campus of the school is located in Bryanston, near Sandton. There is a second, smaller campus in the nearby city of Pretoria.

Fees

For the 2020/2021 academic year, annual fees range from 333,396 ZAR for Pre-Kindergarten to 598,464 ZAR for Grades 11 and 12. There is also a non-refundable capital fee of 11,025 USD for new students.
