For 60 years, Whitby's revolutionary child-centric approach to education has inspired children to better understand themselves and the world around them. Whitby's enquiry-based learning style cultivates students’ curiosities and turns new knowledge into new passions.

What the school says

"Teachers empower students to see the 'big picture' by making connections to different subject areas and providing plenty of opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world situations. The way we empower our learners evolves and builds as children grow with our program. That could mean your two-year-old preparing a snack for their peers, your five-year-old writing and delivering a speech at their kindergarten graduation, your fourth grader advocating in the local community for sustainable energy, or your eighth grader working to end generational poverty in the Dominican Republic. Best of all, each child is individually known and seen — which means our teachers will ignite your child's interests while challenging them to reach their full potential along the way."

Whitby was the first school in America to combine IB and Montessori within an early education program and has the longest-running Montessori program (through Grade 2) in the US. Graduates are praised for their mature emotional intelligence and have gone on to become change advocates, policymakers, and local and global leaders.

Fees for the 2022/2023 school year range from 27,900 USD (Stepping Stones morning programme) to 45,000 USD (Grades 7 to 8).
